A team of 13 Dartmouth undergraduates became one of seven winning teams in Google's "Build Your Campus in 3D Competition" earning the students a trip to Google's headquarters in California, where they will interact with digital modeling professionals. The team members -- advised by Lorie Loeb, a professor in the computer science department -- worked on their project in Sudikoff Laboratory throughout Spring term and ultimately triumphed over 350 other applicants in the contest.

The Summer term hosts an onslaught of non-Dartmouth students who live in the College's residential halls during their time in Hanover. Those who participate in summer camps and other residential programs on campus, however, are not eligible for some of the services Safety and Security provides for Dartmouth students, including campus transportation in the absence of an emergency and use of the Good Samaritan policy.

Sylvia Spears, the new director of the Office of Pluralism and Leadership and Associate Dean of Student Life, assumed her responsibilities on campus last week. Spears replaces Tommy Lee Woon, the first associate dean of OPAL, who left the College in mid-August, citing family concerns.

This summer, five Dartmouth students embarked on the first collaborative program between Dartmouth and the Tuck School of Business as participants of the newly created Paganucci Fellowship Program. The first topic of the three-year grant will be a study of how businesses can alleviate world poverty through microfinance.

After running a routine license plate check on a car, Hanover police discovered that the driver, a 25-year-old female, was driving with a suspended license. The woman, who had been classified as a habitual offender, was stopped and arrested after driving away. In addition to driving on a suspended license, the woman's car was outfitted with an illegally modified muffler.
