Veterans of war in Iraq to enroll at Dartmouth

Almost every new student that matriculates at Dartmouth walks through College President James Wright’s office and learns about several items in his office that are particularly meaningful to the president of the College. One of these objects — a small knife used by Wright when he was a member of the United States Marines — will hold particular significance for three students, all veterans of the war in Iraq, who will enroll in the College this coming fall. Environmental groups hold Eco-Summit

Bringing together members of Dartmouth’s environmental groups and other interested students, the Environmental Summit kicked off a number of summer initiatives on Thursday evening, helping the attending organizations garner volunteer support. Roughly 35 students gathered in Tindle lounge to attend the meeting, which was sponsored by Sustainable Dartmouth, the umbrella organization that oversees all of Dartmouth’s environmental groups. Students live, work and play at Ledyard

With a worn couch on the front porch, a makeshift sign displaying updated prices and two pet chipmunks named Rosco and Norton, it is not immediately obvious that Ledyard Canoe Club is home to any sort of legitimate business. Organic Farm starts summer harvest

Three miles up Route 10 and 200 feet down a curving dirt path lies one acre of the orange cherry tomatoes, familiar to anyone who has eaten from the Collis salad bar, and dozens of other crops that make up Dartmouth’s Organic Farm. The patch of greenery just off campus is the location of several of the College’s environmental studies and physical education classes and the workplace of two employees, two interns and a handful of volunteers over the Summer term.
