Gu project is College’s first commission since Orozco murals
Seventy-three years ago, on the walls in the basement of Baker library, a Mexican artist laid his last brush strokes on the damp plaster, leaving his signature: “J.C. Orozco, Febrero 13, 1934.” As Jose Clemente Orozco finished his “Epic of American Civilization,” which has become known as a masterpiece and one of the greatest frescoes in the United States, President Hopkins and the College were congratulated for their vision.
