Prison project brings inmates, students together to perform

For three Dartmouth students, Tuesdays and Thursdays mean visits to prison. No, Daniella Sloane ‘10, Caroline Roth ‘08 and Ty Moddelmog ‘08 haven’t received some strange, conditional sentence. Instead, they are all volunteers for the “Windsor Women’s Prison/ Performance Project,” a single-term community service venture that began in the fall of 2005. Twice weekly Sloane, Roth and Moddelmog travel to the Southeast Correctional Facility in Windsor, Vt., to collaborate with a handful of inmates in writing and performing an original play. More »

New Musics fest showcases original electroacoustics

According to the brochure, “‘Cusp’ is the unraveling of the voice into a chaotic electronic soundscape. Musically, it tries gradually to create a thin line between the acoustic space of the piano and voice and the electronic vocal-oriented space of the recording.
