The Big Green women’s lacrosse team appears to be suffering from side effects stemming from last week’s heartbreaking loss to conference foe Princeton. On Wednesday, No. 18 Dartmouth was upset by unranked Boston University 17-8 in Boston, Mass. The Big Green never took the lead in this game, as the Terriers jumped out to a commanding 10-1 advantage in the first half and never looked back.

Early on in the Ivy League schedule, it looked like the Dartmouth softball team was going to be in for yet another long and disappointing season. After starting off with a pair of 1-0 wins over Columbia in the conference openers, the Big Green was routed by the University of Pennsylvania the next day, giving up a combined 25 runs in two games, and lost four more games against Cornell and Princeton. After a brutal stretch against these South Division clubs, the Big Green was 6-21 overall and just 2-6 in the Ivy League.

The Dartmouth women’s tennis team lost 5-2 at Harvard Wednesday. The match was the Big Green’s final opportunity to get a win for the 2007 Ivy League season.

The Dartmouth men’s lacrosse team missed another chance at a win on Tuesday at No. 6 Albany. The 15-14 loss to the Great Danes was a surprising finish to a game that the Big Green controlled by a two-goal margin with less than two minutes to play. Tuesday’s loss marks the second consecutive game that Dartmouth has let a potential season-changing win slip through its hands in the closing seconds.
