Dartmouth softball kept rolling through the Ivy League last weekend, using hitting power and strong pitching to grab four straight wins over Yale. On Saturday the Big Green swept the Bulldogs with scores of 2-0 and 3-2, while on Sunday afternoon Dartmouth took the first game 6-4 before winning the nightcap 8-0 in five innings. On Saturday, a solo home run made Kelly Fry ‘07 Dartmouth’s all-time home run leader.

Special thanks to Dartmouth equestrian team captain Daisy Freund ‘08 for supplying WOE with this week’s title: “Inside Jokes for Jocks.” For all of you who haven’t arrived at the realization Ms. Freund came to this past weekend, this column is simply a bunch of inside jokes for jocks. However, there is a silver lining to this rather grim assessment of WOE. Despite the fact that I have been living the “nonner” life for the past year, I take solace in the fact that I am still able to keep my finger on the pulse of many of the inside jock jokes and count that as one of WOE’s greatest triumphs. It’s not easy listening in to the football team’s post-lift conversations at the Hop, and it’s no cakewalk trying to eavesdrop on the hockey team’s intense arguments over just how good the mid-’90s Atlanta Braves really were. WOE takes pride in bringing the Dartmouth jock community the very best in inside jokes.

Despite strong outings from Jamie Wallace ‘08 for the men and Sunny Zhang ‘10 for the women, the Dartmouth golf teams came up short at their respective Ivy Championships held this past weekend. In the biannual competition consisting of the entire Ivy League (minus Cornell in the women’s side), the Dartmouth men tied for sixth and the women finished in sixth.

The women’s tennis team was unable to score its first Ivy victory over the weekend, extending its losing streak to 10 after losses to Brown, 5-2, on Friday, April 20, and Yale, 4-3, on Sunday, April 22.
