Rovana Popoff, senior advisor in the undergraduate college at the University of Chicago, accepted an offer to fill the position of dean of upperclass students. The decision, which was announced this week, marks the end of a two-year search for the position.

Students and faculty in the Asian and Middle Eastern studies and women and gender studies departments have been working to form a Foreign Study Program to India. The new FSP is still in the planning stages, which began last fall, and is expected to run its first term in 2010. Although the exact location of the FSP is to be determined, the cities of Hyderabad and Pune are being considered as options.

He wants to eliminate homelessness, ban guns and replace the kitchen knife — and, he’s running for president. Sixty-year-old Hanover resident Ed O’Donnell announced his candidacy for president of the United States in the 2008 election, explaining that he is running in the Democratic primary to gain publicity in order to get his name on the ballot as an independent.

When phototropic fungus gets brought up, a genus of fungus that grows on dung may come to mind before a world-renowned dance company does. Both are known as pilobolus, but the capitalized dance group is the only one coming to campus Wednesday. Pilobolus Dance Theater, founded in 1971 by four Dartmouth students, has returned to Hanover for a world premier show and the opening of their archives in Rauner Special Collections Library.

The scene at Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity Wednesday night did not appear out of the ordinary at first. Partygoers mingled over punch; the games of pong went on as usual. The only thing peculiar was the one girl who moved furiously about the basement, stamping attendees’ hands with the phrase “blitzberry.com.”

The Pavilion will extend its hours of operation to allow students more accessibility to kosher-for-Passover dining options during the eight days of the holiday. In a change from last year, the Pavilion remained open during the first two nights of Passover and will be open over the weekend.
