‘Black Snake Moan’ fails to instill meaning into sick, silly premise
When the lead actress in a comedy spends the majority of her screen time crawling around on all fours, it suggests three things. First, the film will probably not be screened on Lifetime anytime soon. Second, the screenplay could have been remade as a porno with minimal rewrites. And third, the actress in question should probably fire her agent. All three of these stipulations apply to “Black Snake Moan,” a distasteful mess whose creators had the audacity to chain Christina Ricci to a radiator and call it a movie. More »
