‘Terabithia’ relies on strength of story, not special effects

In these days of advanced special effects, literary fantasies are particularly ripe for screen adaptations. Disney certainly likes the trend (see “The Chronicles of Narnia”) and now those good ol’ folks who blessed our childhoods with the likes of “Aladdin” bring us “Bridge to Terabithia,” the theatrical trailer for which is littered with CGI monsters, flying children and enchanted landscapes. Knopf ‘00 finds success in indie rock scene with Menomena

Ask most people to name famous Dartmouth alumni, and they’ll rattle off the names of some of the most famous artists of the 20th century: Robert Frost, Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel, Keggy the Keg. Despite minor issues (Frost never graduated, Keggy is an anthropomorphic beer keg) they represent the College on the Hill well. Other artists, however, often go overlooked and underappreciated. One such artist is Brent Knopf ‘00, guitar, keyboard and glockenspiel player in the up-and-coming indie rock band Menomena. More »
