To the Editor:

In a recent interview with The Dartmouth ("AD Harper addresses coaching, fights and letters," Jan. 8), Athletic Director Josie Harper said of her office, "We never said we apologize that we invited North Dakota and that they are coming." Clearly Ms. Harper didn't review her previous letter to The Dartmouth ("Apology for hockey tournament mascot," Nov. 21), in which she wrote, "I must offer a sincere apology to the Native American community, and the Dartmouth community as a whole, for an event that will understandably offend and hurt people within our community. In late December, we will host a men's ice hockey tournament that includes the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux." Or perhaps she did review her comments, but hoped that nobody else would bother to do the same.
