Faculty vacancy constrains OPAL

The August departure of Associate Dean Tommy Lee Woon, who headed the Office of Pluralism and Leadership, has left Dean of Student Life Holly Sateia to oversee the office in addition to fulfilling her duties as a dean. This has increased the workload of OPAL's remaining staff members, she said. More »

Banquet held as part of Nat'l Hunger Week

Students gathered for a "hunger banquet" Wednesday evening in Collis Common Ground as part of this year's National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week efforts at Dartmouth. Ongoing events, which included a sleep-out on Collis porch Monday evening and a film discussion on Tuesday evening, will culminate today in a "Day of Action," urging students to sign petitions and write letters in support of fair trade. Student 'soaps' captivate audiences at two Ivies

Conference to focus on helping Iraq veterans suffering from polytrauma

Reports of increasing casualties have continually flooded the news since the Iraq war began in 2003, but the large number of injuries that also result are seldom mentioned. The 2006 Polytrauma Conference, which will take place at Dartmouth from Dec. 3-5, intends to develop improved treatments for soldiers from the Iraq war who suffer from severe multiple wounds. More »

Nov. 1, 3:44 p.m. Employees of the Co-op Food Store spotted a 28-year-old female shopper in the store taking bottles of Twisted Tea, Hard Iced Tea and Mike's Hard Lemonade into the bathroom. Once in the bathroom, the subject allegedly consumed three bottles of these alcoholic beverages, one cookie and one butter croissant. She was stopped after leaving the building and shopkeepers discovered two of the remaining bottles of alcohol in the subject's purse. According to Hanover Police, the subject was cooperative at times, but also became belligerent. There is no indication whether or not this suspect was inspired by a similar recent theft at Go Go Mart. More »
