Dartmouth earned the 47th spot on Black Enterprise magazine's Top 50 Colleges for African Americans report this year for the first time since the list debuted in 1999. Florida A&M University secured first place, while four other historically black colleges and universities helped round out the top ten. Dartmouth and Brown University's addition to the list marked the first time all eight members of the Ivy League were represented in the list. More »
Sept. 13, Allen Street, 1:21 a.m. A Hanover police officer observed two males talking to a Dartmouth Safety and Security officer on Tuck Drive. The Safety and Security agent indicated to the police officer that there was not a problem; however, the officer smelled a strong alcohol odor and noticed that one of the males had watery, bloodshot eyes. The 20-year-old Dartmouth junior was determined to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. He was frisked down, revealing a 12 oz. can of Keystone Light beer in his front right pocket. A preliminary breathalyzer test administered at the police station suggested a blood alcohol concentration of .326. The student was taken to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center for evaluation. More »
