Julian Collins ‘08 was leveled as soon as he caught the ball thrown his way from quarterback Mike Fritz ‘07 late in Dartmouth’s (0-2, 0-0 Ivy League) 56-14 shellacking at the hands of the No. 1 ranked Division I-AA team, the University of New Hampshire Wildcats (3-0, 0-0 Atlantic 10) this Saturday. Collins barely touched the ground, bouncing right back up and walking off the hit.

Last year, Brown and Dartmouth could not be separated at the end of the season, as both teams finished with a 5-1-1 record in the Ivy League, each claiming a share of the title together with Yale. It was a similar story on Saturday at Chase Field, when the co-champions could not be separated after 110 minutes of play, including two overtime periods, and shared the spoils after a 1-1 draw. This was the conference opener for both teams, and a solid crowd of almost 400 attended the match, despite the gloomy weather.

Fickle weather highlighted Dartmouth’s first Ivy win of the season as the Big Green defeated Brown 1-0 at home on Sunday afternoon in both teams’ league opener. Dartmouth improves its record to 5-3 while the Bears stand at 4-3-2 overall.

Cross country running is about performing in all elements, and the Dartmouth men’s and women’s squads proved they could do just that on Saturday. The Big Green women charged to victory at Purple Valley Classic, hosted by Williams College, despite the rain and mud that plagued the course all day.

This weekend, the Dartmouth women’s tennis team posted a strong showing against highly ranked schools at the Deacon Classic at Wake Forrest University. Among Dartmouth’s competitors on the weekend were players from Ohio State, Kansas, Indiana, Syracuse, East Tennessee State and the University of North Carolina Charlotte.
