he Dartmouth club sports program has long voiced pleas for more adequate funding. While some programs are thriving, many others struggle to get by. The Student Assembly’s Club Sports Commission, after meeting together for a little more than a term, is planning to release a report addressing the problems facing club sports at Dartmouth. Club teams enjoy success in nat’l tourneys

They hit the weights in the off-season. They practice daily, pouring out sweat and blood onto their respective fields of play, staining their Dartmouth green. Despite the sacrifices they make off the field and the extraordinary effort they make on it, they often don’t receive the same kind of recognition that members of many other teams get from their classmates. Softball team sweeps Harvard on Senior Day

After losing four straight games last weekend, Dartmouth softball (14-22, 7-7 Ivy) bounced back to sweep a doubleheader against Harvard (20-23, 6-8 Ivy League) on Senior Day Saturday. In two pitchers’ duels, the Big Green won the first game 3-0 and the second 3-2 in 10 innings. More »

Rowing teams end regular season with fast times on home waters

Ending the regular season this week, the Dartmouth rowers went out to assert their skill and power in the collegiate rowing world. The women celebrated a historic weekend by winning five out of their six races, the lightweight men secured the Baggaley Bowl against a good Cornell team, and the heavyweights beat the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, but fell short to host Wisconsin en route to a second place finish in the Cochrane Cup. Player Spotlight: David Steinberg ‘08

Things seemed to be going well for David Steinberg ‘08 as the end of 2005 was drawing closer. Majoring in economics, Steinberg had also played a few good matches at No. 5 for the Big Green men’s tennis team and had competed successfully at the Dartmouth Invitational in November. More »

Straight From the Mule’s Mouth

This weekend saw the conclusion of the NFL’s annual rookie draft. The event, which was first held in Philadelphia in 1936, was held at Radio City Music Hall, making it New York City’s 31st straight year as host. Officially, the NFL calls it the “NFL Annual Player Selection Meetings,” but for simplicity’s sake, we’re going to stick to calling it the “NFL Draft.” More »
