Writing class explores music and madness

The Bipolar Ensemble, a group of first-year students in the Writing 5 course “Manic-Depression and the Creative Process,” will perform at 7 p.m. in a coffeehouse concert this Thursday in Collis Commonground. Entitled “Composers of Moods and Madness,” the event will feature student performances of music and poetry by composers and poets afflicted with manic-depression and depression. More »

Swicker ‘77 commands USS Vicksburg

Captain Charles Swicker ‘77 recently took control of the USS Vicksburg (CG-69), an AEGIS missile cruiser in the United States Navy currently stationed off the horn of Africa. As leader of the ship, Swicker is engaged in Maritime Security Operations, which help ensure the security of the sea by combatting illegal activities. More »

Police Blotter

March 1, South Main Street, 9:15 a.m. A woman followed her son’s ex-girlfriend to the ex-girlfriend’s mother’s workplace because she was upset that the ex-girlfriend, who is in her mid-30s, had broken up with her son, also in his mid-30s. Police were called to the scene and escorted the nearly 70-year-old woman out of the building. More »
