Tubestock likely to be canceled in 2006

Tubestock, a summer weekend of intoxication and rafting on the Connecticut River that has never been sanctioned by the College, will most likely be canceled this summer, unless students can significantly modify the weekend in order to secure event permits from the State of New Hampshire, the Town of Norwich and the Town of Hanover. Court denies review of univ. censors

Freedom of speech advocates claim that the First Amendment was threatened last Tuesday when the U.S. Supreme Court rejected an appeal filed by the editors of a student-run college newspaper against the schools’s administrators. The Supreme Court decision upholds the Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ decision to allow administrators to continue censoring public university newspapers throughout the Midwest. More »
