To the Editor:

I just wanted to applaud Josie Harper's column which so nobly defended our athletic facilities ("Looking Ahead for the Big Green," March 8). All the plans for new facilities sound great! And expensive! Remind me again why there wasn't enough money for the swim program a couple of years ago? To the list of athletic accomplishments I also wanted to add that Mike Mozer '05 and Kelsey Wiegmann '06 were both champions of the league at the recent Track and Field Heptagonal Championships.

When Josie Harper was confronted as to why she could not be bothered to send even a congratulatory blitz to these deserving athletes, she got defensive and claimed she was getting around to it.

However, at a recent meeting of track alumni, no one who won Heptagonals during Harper's reign could ever remember getting even a "nice job" from our athletic director. Talk about mediocre.
